Trade agreements 

 

Bosnia and Herzegovina has signed many Trade Agreements with other countries, including free trade agreements, agreements on preferential treatment of goods and double taxation agreements. 

In particular, Bosnia and Herzegovina became a member of the CEFTA 2006 (Central European Free Trade Agreement), along with other 6 countries in the Region, namely Albania, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Serbia (UNMIC on behalf of Kosovo). 

 

The Advantages of CEFTA 2006 for Bosnia and Herzegovina are as it follows:

 

• Consolidation of 31 bilateral agreements into an unique multilateral agreement


• Diagonal accrual of product origin


• Implementation of rules of trade in accordance with the EU regulations


• Efficient dispute settlement


• Total trade liberalization starting on the expiration of a transitional period (end of 2008/ end  of 2010)


• Maintenance of bilateral free trade agreements with other countries (exception B&H –Turkey)


• Elimination of technical barriers, quotas and export subsidies.

STABILIZATION AND ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT

 

 

Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) is being given to the Western Balkan countries, within the Stabilization and Association Process. The agreement was signed to the indefinite time period.

SAA regulates the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union regarding the three pillars of the EU (European Union, Economic Policy and the Common Market, Common Foreign and Security Policy and Justice and Home Affairs).

 

Stabilization and Association Agreement consists of 10 chapters:

 

-          General principles

-          Political dialogue

-          Regional cooperation

-          Free movement of goods

-          Movement of workers, services, capital

-          Harmonization of law, law enforcement and competition rules

-          Justice and Internal Affairs

-          Forms of cooperation

-          Financial cooperation and opportunities

-          Institutional, General and Final Provisions.
